User rights
| The following collapsed information applies to stewards and system administrators only. |
|---|
Unrestricted technical access to add and remove user rights. Follow the guidance below for Stewards. If someone is a new system administrator, have them email an SSH public key to you, upload the key to the server, create a Linux account on the server with sudo access for them (use sudo adduser username and sudo usermod -aG sudo username), and attach the key to the account. You may first grant the user group before doing so.
Access to add and remove the following user groups: Abuse filter administrators, Users blocked from the abuse filter, Checkusers, Interface administrators,
Stewards, and Suppressors. |
- Bureaucrats
Add or remove the bot, election administrator, interwiki administrator, administrator and bureaucrat permissions.
| Appointing new administrators |
|---|
|
To add a new administrator, type the username (without the User: namespace prefix) and select the appropriate rights. See also the user rights log. It's recommended to include a link to the user's request in the comment field (like this: [[Test Wiki:Request for permissions#newlyMintedAdmin]]). You should then mark the candidacy ([[TW:Request for permissions#newlyMintedAdmin]]) as successful by adding Remember to advise new sysops to translate MediaWiki on translatewiki.net and translate pages on Test Wiki if they are fluent in a language other than English. |
- Administrators
Add or remove autopatrolled users, users blocked from chat, chat moderators, confirmed users, patrollers and translation administrators.
