Användarrättigheten suppress, även kallat censur, ger möjligheten att kunna dölja sidversioner och loggar så att inte ens administratörer har möjlighet att se dessa. När rättigheten används, skapas en loggåtgärd i en privat censurlogg istället för den offentliga raderingsloggen. Denna logg kan enbart ses av censorer och stewards. Censur kan även dölja grovt olämpliga användarnamn från specialsidan Special:ListUsers samtidigt som användaren blockeras. Detta kommer även censurera användarnamnet från de flesta loggar och redigeringar även om namnet fortfarande kan vara synligt i redigeringssammanfattningar vid tillbakarullning. Denna rättighet tilldelas automatiskt till stewards och systemadministratörer som har möjlighet att tilldela sig själv rättigheten. Användare som inte tillhör någon av dessa användargrupper kan tilldelas rättigheten efter konsensus från gemenskapen, eller efter medgivande från minst två stewards. Censur används främst enbart för att dölja personlig information, upphovsrättsbrott, grova personangrepp, eller andra grovt förolämpande redigeringar eller loggar, men även undantagsfall finns. Additionally, suppression can be used to hide a username that is grossly inappropriate from the username list at the same time as indefinitely blocking them. This feature will also suppress the username from most logs and edits, although the username may still be visible in some places, such as rollback edit summaries.

Suppressors can also perform an advanced form of page deletion, which hides the contents of the deleted page from administrators as well as other users.

This right is automatically granted to stewards and system administrators, who can assign it to themselves. As of April 2025, non-steward suppressors (NSS) are no longer being appointed. The community reached a clear consensus to abolish the NSS role going forward. One existing NSS, X, will retain suppression rights until resignation or promotion to steward. Afterward, only stewards and system administrators will have access to suppression.

Here is an incomplete list of things that can, and will be suppressed:

1. Personal information: IP addresses of registered users, doxxing, location, phone number, etc.
2. Copyright infringement and other illegal activities, though regular administrative measures like page or revision deletion may be used to hide the infringement if the infringement is relatively minor
3. Serious personal attacks: that serve little or no administrative value where hiding protects the community
4. Other grossly insulting material that needs to be hidden to protect the community: Grossly inappropriate or pornographic images, moving pages to grossly inappropriate names, etc.
5. Any other material that the suppression team deems unfit for public view
