MediaWiki:Userrights-summary
- System administrators
Unrestricted technical access to add and remove user rights. Follow the guidance below for Stewards. If someone is a new system administrator, have them email an ssh public key to you, create a Linux account on the server with sudo access for them, and attach the key to the account. You may first grant the user group before doing so.
- Stewards
Access to add and remove the following user groups: Abuse filter administrators, Checkusers, Interface administrators, Non-steward suppressors and Supressors.
Remember to advise new sysops to translate MediaWiki on translatewiki.net. Do not grant suppressor (you can still grant NSS to those who meet the established criteria for the group) or CheckUser to anybody but yourself. Only grant AFA or NSS to users who have met the established criteria for the respective groups. Only make someone a steward after judging that they have consensus to be appointed.
- Bureaucrats
Add or remove the Bots, Interwiki administrators, Administrators and Bureaucrats permissions.
After making changes, please ensure to update any relevant lists or records as needed.
Making new administrators |
---|
To add a new administrator, type the username (without the User: namespace prefix) and select the appropriate rights. See also the user rights log. It's recommended to include a link to the user's request in the comment field (like this: [[Test Wiki:Request permissions#newlyMintedAdmin]]). You should then mark the candidacy ([[TW:Requests for permissions#newlyMintedAdmin]]) as successful by adding |
- Administrators
Add and remove the translation administrator from themselves.
Add and remove Autopatrolled users, Autochecked users, Users blocked from chat, Chat moderators, Confirmed users, Patrollers, Reviewers and Translation administrators.
