I have looked at your discussion at [[TW:CP|Test Wiki Community Portal]] and your rationale is sound. I'd be inclined to ''temporarily'' grant you the interface administrator permission, on the condition that (a) you immediately revert any breaking changes and (b) you actually work on what you promise to do. If those conditions are satisfied, that would be favourable to making the appointment indefinite, though note that Stewards can remove it at any time if unused.
